Also known as the Age of Discovery, the Spanish Empire played a pioneering role a a leader in overseas expeditions. Coinciding with the Spanish Golden Age where art and literature flourished, this was a time ripe with creativity and the spirit of adventure. Taking notes from this era of expeditions, Farewell referenced literary characters such as Don Quixote and Ray Smith from Dharma Burns by Kerouac to realize the vision for The Spaniard.
